By far, it has the best story of all the games both before and after it. If you want to play for a good story, FF6 is the winner there. The battle system is less grindy than FF7, and it is more difficult to abuse than the battle system of FF8. It is easily the best of the PS1 FF games, offering better characters, a decent story, and pretty good music. If you are willing to play the PS1 classics though, FF9 is gold. The FFT games are generally well done, and I'm fairly certain War of the Lions is just a remake of the original from the PS1 anyways. War of the Lions is good if you like grid based RPG battle systems. I give it a thumbs up for trying at least, but it simply fell short in many ways and failed to pull me in. For me, the art style absolutely ruined the experience.Īs for the PSP titles, I thought Crisis Core was boring poop. I find the DS version of the game to be hideous and a total eyesore. As well, I just think the PSP version is the best version to play, followed by the GBA version. It retains the original art style while improving it and making it look just about as good as sprites and the like can get. I find the PSP version of FFIV to look the best.
